St. Patrick (Patricius)
Born : 387 - 390 at Scotland (Succat : pagan birth name meaning warlike)
(Patricius : Baptismal name meaning noble)
After six years as a shepherd in the mountains of Ireland, he dreamed that he was commanded to return to Britain. Seeing this as a sign, he escaped.
He studied in continental monasteries becoming a Priest then a Bishop.
Pope St. Celestine sent him to evangelize England, then Ireland.
In 33 years he effectively converted the Irish.
In the Middle Ages, Ireland became known as the Land of Saints, and during the Dark Ages ,its monasteries were the great repositories of learning in Europe; all a consequence of Patrick's ministry.
