"Still Standing"

Barn Still Standing
Each element of this composition was constructed separately from mostly recycled fabrics, and then fused and machine quilted in place.
Torn clothes dryer sheets adhered to white felt produce the 'fluffy clouds'.
The barn 'planks' are wide wale corduroy with shadowed areas created by layers of gray or black tulle.
Small snippets of various green fabrics are encased by tulle to form the 'tree foliage'.
The foreground is composed of the reverse side of a velveteen toned down with green tulle, with grass details 'painted' by free motion machine embroidery.
A crocheted band of natural jute twine embellishes the dark green faux suede border.
